“Are these true wireless? It looks like the mic still has to be connected to the PC or controller”

They are wireless in Lifestyle mode. When the boom mic is attached they need to be connected via th aux cable to a device.

Only wireless via bluetooth. If you want to use the mic you would have to connect directly to the PC or to the included controller.
