I can't hear the headphones when my wife is using them, but I don't hear very well.

That is the one thing I did like about them. They cancel noise ok if you can put up with just ok sound for the price.

If you keep the volume at a good minimal, the person next to you may not hear it. Otherwise if you crank it up and leif your headphones off yuour ear..you can definitely hear a sound especially if you really try to hear it.
