try using the quiet or immersion modes and it should eliminate the background noise making it really easy to only hear what your earbuds are playing. i just ran in downtown managua traffic last week in ''quiet'' mode and i could barely hear the traffic/horns/market and it was plenty loud enough. hope that helps you. in case something is different for your phone, try turning your phone all the way up and then swiping up on your right or left earbud to make sure the volume is all the way up for your earbuds. good luck
