It does have a center speaker that handles dialogue. I don't notice any surround sound effects. Excellent sound though if you also get the sub woofer.

It has a tweeter in the center with two racetrack full range speakers on each side and then two racetrack full range speakers at each end facing out to each side so it has a left, center, and right. You can add a wireless sub and wireless left and right surrounds. It soundbar sounds great alone when you turn up the bass setting on the app and it sounds incredible if you add a sub and sorounds.
