“Can this connect to a subwoofer via a cable? I have an existing subwoofer that can connect directly with a RCA or any other connection via an adapter. There seems to be a BASS connection on the BOSE bar so not sure if it can be used.”

The BASS port on the rear of the Soundbar 300 enables the speaker to be connected with a Bose Bass Module 500 or Bose Bass Module 700 using a 3.5 mm auxiliary audio cable. The Soundbar 300 is not compatible with third party bass module systems.
