“Is the 1/8"-3.5mm Bass out port on the back an actual "bass out" jack that sends the low frequency or is it just a control cable to communicate to the 500 & 700 bass modules? I have a much better powered sub I'd rather use then either of the Bose subs.”

as long as you insert 2.5V DC in the right channel wire (red wire, 3.5mm jack ring) the SB600 sees any analog subwoofer as a Bose model 700 hardwired ... nice trick uh?
