“Like most others, I see this just has 1 speaker. I currently have a stereo receiver in the house with weatherproof speakers outside. I like separation. Is true stereo a thing of the past? With the reviews I see, I would still consider this speaker.”

You can buy two of these guys and they can connect as stereo. I have two myself and it sounds amazing. Honestly this Flex sounds great solo as well. Even though by itself it is a mono speaker I think it does do some separation effects through its DSP technology (digital signal processing). Mono or Stereo music sounds freaking amazing. FYI- sounds better on its back imo.
