• Plenty of volume to fill the average back yard with plenty of sound. It's the loudest single unit bluetooth speaker I have owned. I know the jbl extreme very well as a coworker uses it at work. I'm not joking when I say it would take prob $1200-1500(4-5 extremes) to match the volume of the bose soundtouch 30. The bose does have its limits at its highest volumes though. Heavy bass tracks or alot of drum pedals will make it lose its composure and start distorting.

• It's definitely loud enough for outdoor use. That was my main reason for buying it. I don't know the JBL extreme, but i doubt it could be stronger than the Bose.
