They have to have AC power; the wire is the cord to a black box that plugs in the wall and almost certainly contains the amp and Bluetooth transceiver. But no running speaker wires back to a AV receiver...

The included power supply for each speaker contains a built-in wireless transmitter/receiver that will communicate wirelessly to the SoundTouch 300 soundbar at the front of the room.
