What does open box mean when pricing a bose radio cd? null

I was always told that Open Box means that someone else has purchased the item and returned it to the store. It does not mean the item does not work. It has always been my understanding that they did not like the item or it did not perform to that individuals standards. If there is another explanation, I do not know what else it may be.

That there could be something missing?
