This can only record video from the front of your car, as it is designed like a basic digital camera, with the main lens in the front of it and the back of it having the LCD screen display. The installation process of the mount is very easy, using the standard suction cup contraption, but the really nice part is the sturdy swivel pieces that you can fully adjust for any viewing angle. If you need a system that takes video of both front and back of the vehicle, try searching Best Buy for "front rear inside dash cams" to get some search results. Hope this answers your question.
