It will probably depend on your type of beard. But for me, it seems about the same, maybe a little closer. But the big plus for me is that using with gel makes the shave much less irritating to the skin...more comfortable.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When I tried the gel shaving cream I had been using I got a worse shave. The gel helped push my whiskers flat to my face and did not let the Braun lift them. I get a closer shave with a dry face.
