- Answer If you wanted to make a smoothie you would need to use a blender. The juicer extracts the juice from fruits and vegetables.

QuestionPeels/skins & PulpDo fruits & veggies, for example oranges & bananas, need to be peeled prior to juicing? If not, is peel juiced or merely trapped in straining mesh? How much of high fiber fruits & veggies "juiced" is wasted, ie, trapped in straining mesh?

- Answer Per the instructions, it is recommeneded to peel oranges and bananas before juicing. I have not had any left over pieces of fruits or vegetables trapped in the straining mesh. Everything I have juiced has been ground up and separated into its appropriate container (juice goes into the pitcher and ground up product goes into the collection conatiner). This specific juicer does collect foam on top of the juice in the pitcher, but the pitcher included does help strain/separate that when pouring juice into your glass.

QuestionIs this juicer all stainless steel, or is the food in contact with plastic as well? (BPA free is nice and all, but that chemical is just replaced with another one, I want plastic free!)

- Answer The BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed is BPA Free. Some juice and produce is in contact with BPA Free plastic during operation. The 800JEXL and BJE820XL models by Breville USA do only come in contact with stainless steel up until the point of the juice jug with lid, which is BPA Free, but in theory could be changed with another metal option as an aftermarket purchase.
