• I would not, it gets pretty hot. I have kept food warm there though.

• The top of the unit gets very very very hot when in use. I use it to keep food warm, if the cutting board is wooden then yes that should be no problem. Sitting anything else on top, use caution, keep an oven mitt nearby. I hope this answered your question
