Best countertop convection oven
||Posted .I have had my eye on convection toaster ovens for more than 4 years. I had been considering the Cuisinart for several years. Either the TOB-195 or the TOB-155. I own quite a few Cuisinart appliances but did not want to get stuck on a brand. A good example is the excellence of Samsung top tier TVs, but their DVD/Blu-Ray players have terrible reliability issues. Okay, what changed my mind? The fact that the digital control goes out on the Cuisinart. In addition, reviewers complained about the lackluster toasting on the Cuisinarts and how difficult to use the digital controls on the top of the line Cuisinarts. I had owned a Bosch convection oven previously that did an excellent job until the door hinges wore out. So, why the Breville? It is a solid and well built machine. The function controls are easy and intuitive to use. Once you set the function and time it preheats rather quickly and begins to bake, toast, etc. When the timer goes off, it shuts down. I really like this feature. No worries on burning your food accidentally. It does beep rather loudly when the timer ends to alert you. I have baked cookies, frozen foods, Hot Pockets and frozen pizza. All of these tasks it performed well. It does tend to cook rather quickly as other reviewers have noted. I have adjusted my cook temp by 25 to 50 degrees less depending on what I am cooking or I just reduce the cook time. The user guide is very helpful in this regard. If you use it, you won't over cook your food. I absolutely love this appliance. It is rated by other reviewers as the best countertop convection oven and I agree. The price is a little high by $50; it retails for $249. But that did not stop me from buying it. And if you want a top of the line appliance to exceed your expectations, this unit will do it. As far as concerns about this unit failing, just buy the Geek Squad protection, I did.

A most excellent toaster, baker, broiler oven
||Posted .Never tried the Breville brand before, always been a Black & Decker, Kitchen Aid, Cuisinart customer. That has all changed since we bought our first Breville Smart Oven. It's made extremely well, and designed to fit perfectly with our other Stainless appliances. Finally a door that opens smoothly and feels solid and rugged. The "smart controls" operate easily, it took no time to become accustomed to operating this oven. The toasting is perfect each time, once you've made your desired settings, it remembers what you did before. The controls are very intuitive and flexible for any cooking task. We've had the oven over a month now, and we really like it alot. The price was a little intimidating at first, we got a $10 gift card when we made the purchase. The cheaper ovens we've been buying just didn't last, always had various problems with the quality and construction. You really do get what you pay for...spend a little more and get quality and convenience. The convection feature is a must for an oven. Many features with this unit, also got non-stick trays, standard rectangular and a pizza one. This oven has a superb crumb tray that slides out very easily, and is very well designed. It doesn't warp with high heat; broil and toasting. This oven is very easy to keep clean. Non-stick interior. You'll be glad you bought this oven. Take time to read ALL instructions so you can take full advantage of all the features. ENJOY!!

Expensive, but worth it!!!
||Posted .Bought this product because here in the South, it is hot and I was tired of heating up my house with a big oven to cook pizzas and smaller items. Always felt like such a waste of energy to heat my house for one pizza and then have to have the AC running to keep it cool in the kitchen. I always do my research and I looked around for cheaper products. Well I bought a cheaper one (which I will not disclose), but I will tell you that it had knobs that turned the timers on. Well after 6 months, the plastic knob broke off of the timer and I had to use needle nose pliers to turn it on and off. The problem with the timer was that if the pizza was done sooner than the instructions stated, you have to force the timer to the left to turn it off or you will have a hot toaster oven until it runs out. Doing so, broke the whole machine. So know that you know that, the digital timer is awesome. Twist the knob to select time. If you put too much time, then you hit the cancel button. I also love that this oven has a convection setting. The pizzas are always cooked evenly and very quickly. The timer doesn't start until it hits the desired temperature, so cooking times are easier to keep track of. I cooked toast in it (6 slices) and they all came out even. I didn't have half dark toast and half light toast like I did with my cheaper model. I haven't had it for a long time, but based off of the issues I had with the other one, the items that broke, don't exist on this one. By the way, when I researched it, a certain Consumer rating company that does Reports, rated it the best toaster oven in functionality. Even for the price is was the highest recommended.

Best little investment I have made in a while.
||Posted .We do not have a full size oven and were in need of a new toaster oven that cooked things more evenly then our older and smaller B&D one did. At the time, BB had a 20% off small appliances sale. Unfortunately, Breville was excluded, so the high price tag scared us away at first. But after watching their youtube videos, and seeing all the possible things we could cook with it, we couldn't resist. Everything that was cooked in the oven tasted 10x better than it ever has; even frozen pizza tasted delicious. We even tried a pot roast dish from a related youtube video using the same oven and it was amazing. The controls for the oven is an ease. If you can't figure out how to work this oven just by looking at it, then maybe you shouldn't be cooking. As far as anything bad about this oven. None so far, and I have been using it daily for the past month. One thing this oven could use though, like some of the other toaster ovens, is a little interior light. Its a bit hard to see how something is baking at times without opening it and pulling the rack out. Overall, this is a fantastic little toaster oven. For $250, it is at the top of the list, but it was well worth it in my opinion. Definitely a better deal if you have rewards certificates to knock it down 10 or 20 dollars like I did.

Great! So easy to use to cook something small.
||Posted .This is the 2nd one that ive purchased. I purchased this one as a present for my Sister in law, who's old toaster oven died. She has a 4 year old and a 2 month old. She was having to heat up an entire range to just cook something for the toddler. She lives in an older/remodeled home in central Florida. While she was having to use the range in the middle of the day it would heat the house up 20 degrees and the 20 year old a/c system couldn't bring it back down more than 10 degrees at best. Now she is constantly using the Breville to not only cook for her toddler but her entire family. She says it is the BEST present ever and absolutely loves it and doesn't see how she has done without it. It doesn't heat up the house and has actually lowered their monthly electric bill.

Works better than cheaper Ovens that cost less
||Posted .I needed to buy a new one because my last small oven over $150 just shorted electrically.after years of use. This time, I wanted one to cook the frozen 12" pizza and didn't want to wait for a sale. After a couple of months, I see this produces a lot hotter broiling heat which cooks faster and the electronics allow for good temperature control. Only other notable is fan convection oven ,, but for the price ,, I would have like microwave too. Unless you are cooking for a family or party, these small oven has less heat for summer and essentially use less energy for daily cooking. My only major complaint is with all small oven ,, is cleaning burnt splatter,, I wish there was one, where you can remove the sides, top and bottom to clean. Also, I am using my old rack and pan which is smaller to cook with ,, therefore less work to clean. So far,, this is 5 stars but will see what happens a couple years later. Presets for frozen pizza will burn it, so lower the heat and time for it, but will cook it in 15 minutes.

LOVE this countertop gem!
||Posted .After researching a myriad of options and reading many reviews, I decided to spend my Best Buy holiday gift card on this counter top oven. My husband and I rent a home that has an older Tappan gas range and oven. Despite numerous adjustments to the temp / actual oven heat, it's never even come close to the convenience I used to have with my KitchenAid Gas Convection oven in our previous home. Here's the bottom line: I haven't turned the Tappan gas oven on since receiving our Breville Convection Toaster Oven. We absolutely LOVE this toaster oven, and use it at least 2x / day. I've baked cookies, egg dishes, appetizers, and casseroles; warmed up every type of leftover; broiled salmon portions; and used the 'Keep Warm' feature a lot. It performs beautifully, each and every time. It heats to the selected temperature quickly, and the convection setting absolutely saves time and temperature, (and $$$s!) Solid construction, easy to clean. This countertop gem is everything I'd hoped for, and more.

Q: QuestionSee below. What is the advantage of a convection oven over "non" convection oven? Also, why woould I want to spend the difference on price?
Asked by Scotty.
- A:Answer A convection oven uses a fan (and sometimes an infra-red light source) to move the heat around the food more efficiently than in a "regular" stove. It cooks faster, more evenly, and sears in the juices. And yes, it DOES make a difference - I would never buy an oven that is non-convection again. I found the best way to cook multiple items (if you have large gatherings for holidays or parties) is to have a convection stove / range below with a convection stove / microwave above it. 99% of the time you can cook an entire meal in the smaller stove/microwave unit. The smaller unit will also heat up faster - saving time and energy, it reduces the radiant heat in your house, and is less to clean up than cooking in a big stove.

Q: QuestionIs Special electrical wiring needed? Can a regular outlet be used with the Smart Oven Pro?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Not in our case. We use a GFI 20 amp standard outlet. The only issue we have had is not to run the toaster oven AND the microwave at the same time as they are on the same circiut The toaster oven IS powerful so is our microwave so we discovered this minor problem.
