Yes I did a horizontal venting for the Broan that we installed in our remodeled kitchen. Installation instructions do deal with vertical venting and how to mount what they call the adapter/damper on top of hood. Actually above the rear edge of the hood. There are some mechanical steps to afix the adapter/damper to the hood. This is rectangular in shape (about 3" X 10") so final step is to match that piece to the existing duct. Whatever size or shape existing duct is, oval-rectangular-round, you must then match the new adapter/damper to the existing vent. I had to go to Home Depot to find a transition vent to match what I had. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can connect to current duct system. if you see the hood installation guide there are some special requirements - need a special adapter which you can only find online 14" by 3 1/4" adapter to convert to 7" or 8 " round duct. What size is your current duct ? you need this big duct to make it perform better. At it highest speed it does blow out hard. - the opening is on the top for blowing vertical but it not exactly at the top center of the hood but at the top back end of hood so you might have to adjust the current opening depending where is your current opening in the cabinet ... It's so far a great hood.. Right size the height is just 5 " which is what I needed as I didn't had much to play between my stove and cabinet but great power and does it work perfectly. It just made cooking easier for us.
