The maximum print speed on the MFC-J6530DW for color is 27.

I've used this printer for over five years, it's fast and extremely reliable. The inks are not the highest cost and last fairly long. It depends on the quality of the print for the photo, If you are using the finest quality print, any inkjet printer is going to take several minutes. Lower quality prints are in 15-30 seconds, so it is not slow. I wouldn't trade this Brother Printer for any other brand as far as reliability.

I have not printed a 4x6 photo - sorry.
