• Unfortunately a lower tray can not be installed in the Brother DCPL2550DW, this model does not support it.

• There's actually 2 paper trays on this unit. The main tray which holds about 250 sheets is on the bottom. There is another feed behind the "Brother" panel on the front of the printer. It will hold about 4 or 5 sheets, eliminating the need to load a different type form, such as checks. See the attached photos. Hope this helps!
