• Yes, it comes with a carbon paper ribbon which serves as it's ink. I doubt it will last very long or provide very good quality though so there you have it.

• No, has a ribbon cassette which needs to be replaced when fax's start to look like ink is about to run out. First cartridge that comes with unit is not good for too long, would order replacement when or if you buy machine. Replaced cartridges last much longer than starter one does.
