It does not use ink cartridges. It uses toner. Unlike ink, which goes on wet, has to dry, clogs the print heads and dries out if left inactive for a period of time, this devices uses dry powdered toner in cartridges that is fused onto the paper by a heated element. It can be left inactive for extended periods and does not clog. The life on the supplied cartridges appears to be about 15,000 plates. Plate=one side of a sheet of paper, it auto-duplexes. Print quality is decent, call it "business class", not photo quality.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Still using the toner out of the box after two months of printing almost everyday
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The default carts are good for 1000 pages each, probably more on eco mode.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is not an "ink cartridge" printer. It takes toner cartridges which last much longer. Expect to print 2000-3000 pages per cartridge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It isn't ink. It's toner. And it's after THOUSANDS of sheets. Way more efficient than ink jet. The cartridges are 50 to $75 depending on where you buy them. (That's all of them as a set, so really nearly the same as inkjet would be)
