Your Brother MFCJ4535DW machine will perform maintenance purges of the print head at regular intervals. The cleaning is to ensure consistent print quality and prevent damage to the print head. These purges remove any air or debris that may have gotten into the print head manifold. Your machine will use the minimum amount of ink necessary to perform this operation. The cleaning time is built into the machine's firmware and is not user adjustable. The Brother ink cartridges have a shelf life of three-years from the date of production. To ensure optimum print quality, Brother highly recommends that you use the ink cartridges prior to the use before date printed on the packaging. Ink cartridges that are opened on, or just before, the use before date should be used and replaced within six months after they are installed. If the print quality becomes poor, we recommend that you replace the ink cartridge with a new ink cartridge.
