no you don't have to print on a weekly basis. all you have to do is remember to turn the printer off and on a few times a week. each time the printer turns on it goes through a mini cleaning. This will keep the print head from drying out so you don't have to do a regular cleaning as much. just remember if you do a regular cleaning it uses a lot of ink, and never do it more than 2-3 times in a row. So just remember to turn it off and on a few times a week and it will be just fine. hope this helps
