Yes, the printer can scan legal size paper 8.5 x 14".

Please try again later.I hadn't tried that feature yet,but found a legal size paper and scanned using the automatic Document feed (ADF). it scanned the whole page BUT it didn't show up on my computer download. I know it won't scan a legal size using the scanner glass. It will print legal size according to the manual.. I am not too tech savvy to see if I could get it to "shrink to fit" or expand the document on my computer.... sorry... so far what I am using this MFC J85DW I am happy with it. I like the print front and back feature. Hope this helps :)
