Can I just buy and put in the one black ink cartridge? null

You can change the cartridge for each color as it becomes empty, but you will not be able to print at all if any one of the cartridges is totally empty. I always make certain to have at least one new cartridge of each color on hand. It's a bummer to run out of ink when you NEED top print something

Yes. it has 4 ink cartridges , Cyan, yellow, Magenta and black
