• A:Answer You don't need the CD. I followed the directions and downloaded software online. You can set it up this way. I definitely recommend you follow step by step directions. Once you download the software, you can do a number of things including maintenance... The Brother software showed up on my desktop.

• A:Answer Mine have not had problems, but if it looses connection, turn it off and wait a few minutes and turn it back on. That should allow it to reconnect. I've done this with other printers that have had that problem.

• A:Answer the 2700 is grey and the 2740 is black. The 2740 does duplex color scanning while the 2700 only scans one side of the document. The 2740 is a tad heavier. They have same memory and same dimensions.
