“Does this printer require all the color toner cartridges to have ink in them to be able to print in black? For instance, if a color (other than black) cartridge is empty will it still print in black?”

It notifies if a cartridge is low and shows estimate remaining ink. I have not used it long enough yet, but I believe it continues to print.
