QuestionWhy do the specifications state that the document feeder is 50 pages and yet in an answer to a question regarding if it can scan 40 pages of mixed sized paper (letter & legal), you state that it can only scan 35 pages?

- Answer This model only holds 35 pages in scan mode. It is possible to set it up mixed pages printing.

- Answer Yes. We use this feature on a daily basis. I have not explored the machine's ability to scan directly to email, but I'm pretty certain this is possible (as I have had other older Brother models that had this feature.)

- Answer If you search the brother web site you will find that they claim that an additional 500 sheet tray can be added. This is a direct quote from the site: "Flexible paper handling. The MFC-L8850CDW features a 250-sheet capacity tray that is adjustable for letter or legal-size paper, plus a 50-sheet capacity multi-purpose tray. An optional 500-sheet capacity paper tray‡ is available for additional capacity." Hope this helps

QuestionDoes this printer require all the color toner cartridges to have ink in them to be able to print in black? For instance, if a color (other than black) cartridge is empty will it still print in black?

- Answer It notifies if a cartridge is low and shows estimate remaining ink. I have not used it long enough yet, but I believe it continues to print.
