“Was running my D-200 P-touch labeler on batteries but the batteries did not last very long so purchased a charger. Took the batteries out and plug ed in the charger, NOTHING! Do you have to have the batteries (6) installed with the ES charger?”

No, the adapter will work when batteries are installed. The adapter must has a 9 Volt output in order to power on that label maker.
