“I am wondering can I change the label cartridges mid use? For example if I am making 25mm labels and I need to make a 50mm label and vice versa can I change out the cartridge with out the rest of the roll going to waste? Has anyone tried this?”

Yes, that's no problem. Print out one label and remove the cartridge, replace it and print the next. There might be a little wasted (2-3mm), but not much. It's not like these are light sensitive and can't be removed.
