The bulbs do not require a smart plug. They dim and turn on through your assistant. The smart plug will turn on and off the lamps or anything else it may be plugged into.

Hi Davian, The bulbs do not need to be plugged in with the smart plug.In order to use Homekit you will need a C by GE C-reach Hub. It is the only hub that will connect with Homekit. Once you have everything setup you will be able to dim the bulbs from our C by GE app and the Apple Homekit app.
