No, you don't need a hub for this bulb.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You don’t need a hub. As far as turning them off and on from another state I think so. I’ve been able to turn mine on from the google home or google assistant app when I’m at work before I drive home.

It does great in range of my WiFi BUT not voice controlled AND can only Be controlled within WiFi range NOT from anywhere else. I went on the C by Ge website and called customer support. I explained just like above. He told me to manage the out of the range of my wi-fi. I would need either the smart plug cost approx $19 Or. The smart cell for $40. I looked up Best Buy and I can get it there. The $40 cell is voice activated and can be controlled from Anywhere I will get it this week-end and try it And report what happens. He said those are the 2 options for this builb.

Please try again later.You would need the Google home app. If you have the app. you can power the lights on & off from anywhere in the world as long as your home maintains a wifi connection If you go as far as getting the app & the lights you should get the hub. doesn't need to be voice activated for it to be convenient just set up my lights, garage doors, thermostat & laundry appliances
