Hello - this is a great question! Over-the-range microwaves, such as this model, must be installed 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to. This can also be measured as 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave attaches to. Page 6 of the installation instructions provides a helpful diagram to better visualize the mounting requirements (linked on our website). We hope this helps!
