• Hi there - Great questions! The ultra-fine and fine filters are not self-cleaning. The filters should be cleaned every other month or more depending on usage. Also, this dishwasher does have a hard food disposer that grinds food particles before they go down the drain. This clears the passage through to the drain and eliminates the need to pre-rinse dishes. Thanks so much for considering Café! -Mikayla
