Hi LBNYC - Heavy-cast iron continuous grates can be washed in the sink, dishwasher, or the self-cleaning cycle. These grates create a very stable and even cooking surface. All gas burner grates have a porcelain enamel coating, which allows for easier cleaning, prevents rusting, and provides a smooth look. Seasoning is not necessary.
