• Hello - The cooktop surface for this range is black ceramic glass. The glass ceramic is, in most cases, a speckled translucent glass made to allow the element to radiate/conduct heat better thru the glass to the pan. We have not tested the to see the time to boil; However, the type of cookware you use on a radiant smooth glass cooktop can affect how it performs.
