“I am looking for a lense to mostly shoot my sons sports. The toughest photo for me to get is my sons indoor basketball games. I would also like to take portraits. Will this be a good lense for me? Or could you make a suggestion.”

It’s an incredible lens for both of those. Open it all the way up indoors to 2.8 and with almost any camera pairing it will give you a sharp focus and a beautifully soft background. It’s a must in any professional Canon shooters bag.

Fast focus for the sports, and a nice fairly large aperture for the portrait. It being a zoom, stepping back from your subject and zooming in will help separate your subject from the background.
