First things first, the kit lens should be more than adequate and there's a possibility that what you are reporting is a defective, off center focusing issue in the (alignment), kit lens. This lens, the 22mm is essentially A 35mm, in 35mm Film Camera Perspective terms, using an M camera. This perspective has produced some of the finest optics ever known, the standards for acceptability in this range are extremely high. If the general consensus says it's sharp? Get your kit lens checked because it's sharp enough that anything not appearing sharp is an issue.
