The warranty is valid as Best Buy is an authorized Canon dealer. Gray market cameras purchased from non-authorized dealers are the same product, but the warranty is invalid in the US.

I have not had to use the warranty with any of my Cannon equipment including the R5. But it is my understanding that when you buy from a Cannon US authorized company then the warranty is in force from Cannon. Some none US based companies appear not to provide the same warranty.
