Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the machine primarily to copy work orders for customers, so I have not used the photo scanning capabilities. My prior experience with Canon scanners was that they provided very high quality scans, but I have not used their scanning software with this multifunction unit. The quality of the copies is excellent, and it scans both sides of the original in one pass. As for the color capabilities of this unit, I haven't used it in this capacity other than to copy color documents to monochrome. I am very pleased with the unit for my purposes, as it is very fast and will provide 2 sided copies from single or double sided originals. It will also print documents from a thumb drive and scan to a thumb drive, as well as print or scan wirelessly from a computer or phone. It is an excellent value for a very slight price increase from lower end units. I also have the HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP477fdw and it provides quality color scans and prints and scans both sides of documents in one pass. If you need color laser printing (which has the advantage that the print head won't clog with infrequent use) I would recommend the HP.
