“Can I scan a thick item like a book opened flat? Is the scanner only a feed or can I flip open the top and lay the item on the scanning bed?”

• You can flip the top up. I have scanned book pages laid flat. You will get shading around the edges depending on how thick the book. The scanner bed is letter size. 8-1/2 by 11. Nothing larger in single scan.

• Yes the tiop will flip up. I have scanned several large items. If you are scanning an item where the top can't close use a dark piece of material to block the light.

• Yes, the lid lifts up, allowing you to make copies of thick items, such as an open book. I have done this myself many times.

• It's not a feed. You have to lift up the top and lay the book on the glass.

• Yes, you can pull up the lid of the printer and lay a book down and then scan a page from the scanning bed. The printer also has a paper feeder as well for scanning purposes.
