• My first one lasted about 2 years but I just bought a new one since it was only about $95 to replace it.

• Yep, for sure get the warranty. I've owned three of these. The first one lasted about a year and a half, the second about nine months. I like the printer very much, but these things do fail. It's nice to get a replacement so quickly.
