“I understand that all printing ceases if a single cartridge is depleted. My question is, must ALL cartridges, black AND color be replaced before printing can resume? Ex: only black ink is out; and color inks are full as no color printing has taken place”

Mine is a new printer to me. The two Cartridges are very large. In my other Canon if one cartridge was empty it had to be replaced before printing resumed.
