Yes I was able to select Black and White print or Color print.

Please try again later.Can't answer your question about the ink as I haven't done much with the printer since I've owned it and this is the first printer I've owned that only has 2 cartridges. Best Buy will take your printer as junk. At my local store they discourage pick up in the store, but offer take out service where they bring the printer to your car.
