“I have to purchase a camera for a cooking blog and was wondering if this would be appropriate. They will be still shots of food and equipment. The requirement is atleast 300 DPI. How would I tell?”

I am not sure about the DPI for this camera but I can tell you it takes great close up shots

AFAIK the Powershot is only going to give you 180dpi at the highest setting. You can view this by right clicking on a photo file and selecting "Properties", then clicking the "Details" tab. HOWEVER...this dpi number is basically MEANINGLESS! The number stored in the EXIF data in "Properties" can easily be changed in Photoshop. You might want to check and see the actual pixel dimensions they require. The DPI can be edited easily without affecting the quality of the photo at all. At it's highest setting the Powershot shoots 20MP at 5152 x 3864. HTH!
