It will interface with Dropbox and other cloud services so if you set his camera to upload to a cloud service, he can print from that. It will also print from a smartphone so if the camera has a feature that transfers photos to a smartphone (my new Nikon does that), he could print that way. It has a direct connect feature for Canon cameras.
