• There is a square button at the base of the jaws. Suggest you try mounting the clip without attaching the holder to get a feel for mounting the clip to the vent.

• It is a spring loaded tab along the top of the cylinder shape that 'un-pinches' the vent clip. Even so, it is a poor design and easily falls out of the vent.
