• I leave mine plugged in and I have not had any problems with it draining my battery. I have a VW Passat.

• I've used the Car and Driver USB power adapter for over a month. With the multiple voltage output there must be something smart in it's circuits. I've not had a problem with draining the automobile battery. I don't leave the Smartphone plugged past full.
