@Gus - The zipper for the Case Logic PAS213Black zips open from the top only. It is not a clamshell case that opens up to allow the user to work on the computer on one's lap. The Case Logic QNS113Black would be the best option for that kind of use. You'll have to remove it to use it. Zips half way down sides

the Case only unzips halfway so you do have to take it out of the case to use your laptop

Yes seperate zipper for laptop case and accessories sections.Laptop cannot be used without being removed from the case.

It unzips about 80% on one side and 20% on the other. So you won't be able to use the laptop without removing it from the case.
