The Nexstar 4/5se mount is smaller than the mount used on the Nexstar 6/8se and if a larger telescope is used in the 4/5se mount it will be both too heavy for the mount and the telescope body will strike the mount base when it is aimed at zenith. The larger telescopes will need their dedicated mounts in order to function properly.
