Refract means "to bend." A refractor telescope uses a lens (a combination of two to four polished glass pieces) to bring light to a focus. Placing an eyepiece at the focus point will allow you to see a magnified image of what you are looking at. The PowerSeeker 70EQ is a refractor telescope model. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron
